About 27 percent of Dryer Exhaust fires are caused by an accumulation of lint, which means that not cleaning out your dryer vent can set you up for a dangerous situation that’s far more serious than the drop in performance caused by constricting a dryer’s ductwork.
Several tips for Preventing Dryer fires:
1) Clean the lint from the dryer’s lint screen after every load!
2) Replace Accordion-Style Ducts and Plastic Ducts and Flex foil ducts with a rigid metal duct. The smooth walls allow the air to flow, and also reduce the buildup of lint.
3) Clean the Main Dryer Duct and Exhaust to Oustide, twice or more a Year.
4) Clothes stained with gas, cooking oil, cleaning agents, or other flammable chemicals or substances need special handling and car. Wash these clothes, more than once. If you must use a dryer, then use the lowest heat setting and a drying cycle that concludes with a cool-down period.

Skunk spray contains sulfur-based organic compounds called thiols. These compounds let off an immediate blast of acrid scent, reminiscent of rotten eggs.
Skunk spray also contains thioacetates. Thioacetates remain dormant at first, but can morph into smell-producing thiols when they come into contact with water or humidity. This can happen days or longer after the skunking occurred. It’s the thioacetates in skunk spray that give it its staying power.
Compounding this stinky situation is the sensitivity of the human nose, which can pick up skunk smell in tiny quantities — as low as 1 part per 10 billion.
Everyone knows that tomato juice is handy for deskunking a dog, but it’s not the only old-time remedy that works to get rid of skunk odor from your dog. Some other ingredients to keep on hand in quantity in case of emergency include vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and backing soda, Dawn Dish soap and Clean water.
Get your pet Shampooed and cleaned immediately! Be careful of your pets eyes, nose and mouth and feet.
The best way to eliminate skunk odor is to avoid it altogether. Believe it or not, skunks hate strong odors. You can keep them out of your woodshed or other outbuildings by hanging a bar of strong disinfectant or room deodorizer in the space or area. Even Bars of old soap can be used.

Multi-unit dryer vent cleaning.
We wash and dry our clothes on a regular basis, but do we stop and think about the dryer vents? Most of us keep the lint trap inside our dryer clean, unaware that there is another fire risk that is not so easy to check. About 80% of structural fires are caused by dirty or clogged dryer vents. Your vents should be cleaned at least once a year by a professional.
Warning signs that your dryer vents need to be cleaned are:
• Clothes are taking much longer than normal to dry. It will often take two or three cycles to dry them.
• Clothes have a strange, burning smell to them. This could be a sign that your dryer vent isn’t properly able to ventilate the warm air out of the appliance.
•The laundry room feels excessively hot when the dryer is running. Again, this could be a result of a clogged vent that isn’t letting hot air escape.
Problems caused by a clogged dryer vent:
• Fires. The lint from your clothes can build up inside the dryer vent. This material is highly flammable and can cause a fire.
• Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. When the dryer vent is clogged, dangerous CO gases aren’t able to escape. Instead, they build up inside the vent and may seep out into the laundry room and into other areas of the home.
• Wear and tear on the dryer. When it takes two or three cycles to get your clothes dried, this puts a lot of strain on your dryer. It can lead to excessive wear and tear on the unit.
• Skyrocketing utility bills. A dryer that is running more often than it should to dry clothes will use a lot of energy. This will be reflected on your monthly utility bills.
If your dryer ever starts smoking, turn it off. Do not open the dryer door. Call 911.

Love your pets, not the odor.
Having pets is a part of life. Having pet odor doesn't have to be. If you love having pets, but can't stand the lingering odors they create, then there are a few things you can do to help eliminate those unwanted odors.
Your carpet can be a big source of lingering odors. Dirt, pet dander, urine, and fecal matter can remain deep inside carpet fibers. Carpet powder only helps deodorize and clean the surface but does little to get in deep. Using a carpet cleaner is more effective but only if you know how to use it correctly.
