What’s great about having so many franchises, is that whenever there is a larger than normal job, or a major storm hits, we all band together to help out the affected community.
In February 2021, a major winter storm moved through the state of Texas and wreaked havoc on the citizens of the Lonestar state. This storm brought not only snow, sleet, and freezing rain to Southeast Texas, but also extremely cold temperatures that lasted for several days. This was one of the most impactful winter events in recent history that brought multiple road closures, power outages, loss of heat, broken pipes, and other societal impacts for the region. Our crew assembled, packed up the vans and drove down to assist other SERVPROs with the clean-up. We worked side by side with our SERVPRO family and didn’t leave until the job was done! This is not the first (or last!) time SERVPRO will travel to help out communities in need.

We here at SERVPRO Blackwood/Gloucester TWP call Glendora, NJ home. Community is everything to us and we love our neighbors! Just in our backyard, we have a fun mural that was painted on one of our walls by our friends in the neighborhood! We also have a large, grassy lot that the mural overlooks where we have hosted fun events for everyone. We wanted to share some cool facts about Glendora/Gloucester Twp, to honor our friends and neighbors.
Gloucester township was named after the cathedral town of Gloucester on the banks of the Severn in England. Gloucester Twp is home to one of 175 similar pre-Revolutionary War buildings in the U.S., The Gabreil Daveis Tavern (also known as the Hillman Hospital House). This tavern was built in 1756 near the Big Timber Creek and housed boatmen who used the creek to ship goods to Philadelphia. It was designated a hospital by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. If you visit the tavern, you can walk on the same floorboards and look out the same glass windows as Revolutionary soldiers! This historical site is even depicted on our mural!

South Jersey suffered from severe storms and flooding in mid June. Five inches in rain fell in five hours. These storms caused property damage, forced road closures and many families were evacuated from their homes. A state of emergency was declared in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties. Our phones at SERVPRO were ringing all night and day. Due to the overflow of work, SERVPRO of Blackwood/Gloucester Township reached out to local SERVPRO Franchises and also to the SERVPRO Storm Team. The majority of the jobs received were flooded basements. Quick response is the key to minimizing property damage and save in restoration costs in a flood situation. Office Building containing police documents and commercial blueprints that had to be disposed of properly.
A local municipality office suffered a lot of water and mold damage due to an ongoing roof leak. This office was used to store police records and commercial blueprint files as well as old computers and electronics. The building was eventually going to be demolished. We subcontracted a replicable shredding company to securely shred the documents, following the secure chain of custody.
