Document Freeze Drying

Water damages can be a nightmare to deal with when they happen for multiple reasons. One aspect that is often overlooked at first, is how to save important or sentimental documents after they have been saturated by water. SERVPRO of Blackwood / Gloucester Township has the ability to take those documents and limit the amount of permanent damage through a procedure called Document Freeze Drying.
Document Freeze Drying is a process in which the wet documents are taken and immediately frozen to prevent any further damage. Next they are shipped in a climate controlled environment to our corporate headquarters where they will be stored in a freezer until they are placed in SERVPRO’s Document Freeze Drying Chamber. The chamber uses a process called sublimation to evaporate the frozen water off the documents without allowing the water to go through the liquid phase. This is done by controlling the temperature in a vacuum—changing the melting and boiling points of water. This allows for the documents to be dried without allowing the liquid water to cause further damage. This can be beneficial to both our commercial and residential customers. On the commercial end, we have the abilities and necessary requirements to handle a large quantity of sensitive documents while adhering to proper chain of custody, HIPPA requirements and privacy standards. On the residential end, we have the abilities to handle smaller amounts of sentimental documents and photos that could be priceless and irreplaceable. So no matter what size disaster, SERVPRO of Blackwood / Gloucester Township is here to help you, 24/7!
