Yes, You can contract Hantavirus from Mice and Rats, and it is a Biohazard
1) Hantaviruses are transmitted by contact with the bodily fluids of Rodents, particularly from saliva from bites, and Especially from inhalation of viral particles from urine and feces in aerosols. The rodents that transmit Hantaviruses: The Cotton Rat, Deer Mice, Rice Rat, and the White Footed Mouse.
2) Before Cleaning, it is important that you do NOT stir up dust, by Sweeping up droppings, urine, or nesting materials.
