This customer thought they could handle their water mitigation themselves. They had a pipe leak under their sink and fixed the pipe and used a small fan to dry it. About two weeks later they started to notice a musty smell in the area where the water damage had occurred. They called us out to take a look and we found high moisture readings with our meters where the damage occurred. We removed the base of the cabinets and a section of the vinyl and luan under the dishwasher due to the high moisture readings. We discovered discoloration under the dishwasher and on parts of the cabinet. With the homeowners approval, we performed mold remediation to clean the mold and high level of spores in the air. We use an antimicrobial agent along with certified technicians to perform this remediation. Hopefully, you will never have a water damage, but if you do don’t think it’s too small to call in the professionals to take a look at it.
