How to Keep Your Water Bill Low
A significant number of buildings that get mold growth in Blackwood and Gloucester Township get it as a result of water leakage. We can tell that the water bills have gone up in addition to mold problems. There are many other areas where water gets lost or is wasted. You can lower your water bills by dealing with these areas. Here are some tips.
Wash full loads with your laundry machine and dishwasher
A partial load uses as much water as a full load. However, you will be required to wash more often. With a full load, you conserve water by washing less often.
Use a low flow shower head and water efficient toilet
A low flow shower-head can cut your water usage by almost half while at the same time offering a similar experience. Water-efficient toilets can reduce the consumption of water by over 40 percent.
Repair leaking faucets.
Our SERVPRO of Blackwood/Gloucester Township team encountered a few homes which were damaged by leaking faucets and blocked drainage. Water filled the sinks and drained to the flow. Leaking faucets can cause water damage in addition to wasting water. Do not ignore that drop that is falling every few seconds; it might be making up for up to 10 percent of your water bill.
Harvest rainwater.
Attach rain barrels to the eaves-trough downspout to harvest rainwater. You can irrigate your kitchen garden and the lawn or wash your car and other outdoor equipment with the water and not pay a dime for it.
Water your lawn in the evening or early morning.
Water your lawn before the sun comes up. This way, you will not be losing the water to evaporation. Moreover, do not over water your lawn. Use a time to set the length of the period that you will water the lawn depending on the soil dryness.
Turn off water when not using it while doing tasks like brushing, shaving or cleaning items.
Do not leave the water running when you are actually not using it as you complete the tasks such as brushing your teeth, shaving, or other such tasks. Shut the water off and then on when you need to use it.
At SERVPRO of Blackwood/Gloucester Township, we believe that you can cut your water bills by almost 40 percent by following the above water conservation best practices.
